The Musical Mitten

This podcast began as a radio show in the fall of 2021. What started as a casual conversation about pop-punk music quickly became a discussion about the history of the music industry in Michigan. From there, plans formed for a 10 episode season filled with on-air antics, interviews we had never imagined doing, and a growing appreciation for our state's music. Then, after we signed off on the last episode, we realized we didn't want to give it up just yet.

As we started planning our second season, we knew we had to make some changes, the biggest one being to our format. While our roots would remain with our radio station, we turned to podcasting to accommodate for class schedules, work, and the increasing amount of Zoom calls and travel plans needed to keep the show running. 

​

All told, the show ran for five seasons, ending just before our graduation in May of 2024. We made so many new friends along the way, from Traverse City all the way to Nashville, TN. We listened to new music, collected band t-shirts, CDs, vinyls, and stickers, and even won a Michigan Association of Broadcasters award in their On-Air Personality/Team category in 2023.
